Frequently asked questions.

Do you have a store where I can see your products?

I do not have a store front at this time. However, we can set up an appointment to view any items you may be interested in. I operate out of my home garage so can be very flexible with appointment times. Use the Contact page and let me know one or two times that would work for you, and we'll get something set up!

Are you currently accepting new commissions?

Due to current work load, I am not accepting new commissions. If you would like to be added to the waiting list, please email with a brief description of what you are looking for.

How does the custom process work?

The custom design process starts with you!

First, we will discuss your ideas - be it a specific piece you have in mind, a couple of pictures you have collected, or a unique space you'd like to fill.

Next, I will collect a design fee of $75-150 depending on the size of the proposed project before getting to work on the 3D design. This fee covers one initial design with up to 2 minor variations (such as table leg style or cabinet door style) and up to two minor re-workings based on your feedback. Designs will be provided electronically and will include an estimate. The design fee will be applied to the initial deposit for the project if the design and estimate are accepted.

Once the design is settled, including finishes and timeline, I will collect a deposit to secure your position in my work queue.

Can I get a quote for a custom furniture piece?

Yes!

Please reach out with the details of what you're looking for (type of piece/size/design/style/etc.). Generally we’ll have some back and forth before I can get a design and estimate to you.

If it's something complex or to fit a specific space in your home or office, I can come to your location and take measurements and discuss your vision before creating a design and estimate for you.

I am also happy to discuss design ideas if you aren't sure quite what you want/need.

Do you deliver?

Yes, I offer free delivery on custom pieces over $500 to Salem/Keizer and can deliver to much of the Willamette Valley for a modest fee.

In addition to free delivery within the Salem/Keizer area, I can deliver for a fee to areas in a wider region:

  • within a 1 hour drive (one-way from Keizer, OR) is $120,

  • within 90 minutes is $150,

  • within 2 hours, is $200.

  • Beyond this distance, I will consider case-by-case. For large furniture, delivery up to 4 hours, one way, is often cheaper than freight shipping.

Delivery to a state with sales tax (such as Washington) requires that I collect that state’s sales tax.

What types of custom work do you do?

I do all manner of custom work!

From large furniture for your home like a dining table, bed, or side table, or a small gift box or cutting board. And everything in between - if you have a unique challenge that a wood-product might fix, I am happy to discuss how I might help find a solution -- a cabinet for an unusually shaped corner in a room or a unique storage solution for items in your garage.

Contact me and let's see what we can design together!

Can you install cabinets?

Sorry, but I am not able to install cabinets.

What finish do you use?

I use a food safe hardwax oil finish made by Rubio Monocoat on most products. For cutting boards I use a food safe oil blend followed by an oil and wax combination for extra protection.

I like these products because they penetrate into the wood rather than sitting on top like polyurethane or lacquer. This way the finished product still feels natural and has some of the wood grain texture for a pleasing tactile feel when running your hands across a piece. A film finish such as polyurethane puts a barrier between your hands and the wood.

If something should damage the surface, it can be spot sanded and refinished without leaving a line between new and old finish! It is even safe to apply indoors!
